Starting his career at Reuters in Sydney\, on relocating to NZ he joined Archives New Zealand initially as an archivist but ultimately leading the agency’s appraisal function\, which included developing the whole of Government Legacy Records Programme\, and developing the evaluation and approval processes for both state and private sector entities applying for disposal approvals under sections 17\, 18 and 20 of the Public Records Act. From Archives\, he moved to the University of Canterbury where – as the Associate Registrar – he was responsible for integrating privacy-by-design into the University’s IT architectures and procurement process\, as well as being on the pointy end of managing the University’s privacy and open access policies. Tom has a strong interest in the intersection of privacy obligations\, identity management and information design and management\, together with effective solutions in protecting all three\, and has brought this interest and knowledge to his work at Middleware NZ.\n\n \n\nMarcus Bossert\, Director – Cyber\, Privacy and Resilience\, Deloitte\n\nMarcus Bossert is the Identity lead in Deloitte New Zealand’s Cyber and Privacy practice and works closely with his counterparts in Deloitte’s global community of Digital Identity experts and thought leaders.  \nHe has worked with many government and private sector organisations to identify and find practical ways to mitigate cyber and privacy risk for new initiatives and uplifting existing cyber capabilities.\nMarcus started out in systems engineering and developed a strong background in systems development and integration while working for several large systems integrators.\n\nMarcus has been focussing on identity and access management for the past 15 years and has worked across a broad range of technical and business stakeholders to successfully deliver a number of large identity initiatives. \n \n\nRizwan Ahmad\, Founder\, Cianaa Technologies\n\nDr. Rizwan holds several prestigious certifications\, including ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Auditor and PCI DSS Qualified Security Assessor (QSA). These certifications demonstrate his deep knowledge and expertise in information security management and payment card industry standards. In recognition of his outstanding contributions\, Dr. Rizwan Ahmad was awarded Rron Islami Award for the Best Auditor of the Year 2024 in Asia-Pacific by certification body MSECB for Cybersecurity and Privacy. \nWith extensive experience in cybersecurity audits\, Dr. Rizwan ensures compliance and identifies system vulnerabilities for various clients\, including the New Zealand Government. His expertise includes evaluating network security\, advising on security strategies\, and implementing robust security measures to protect sensitive information. \nAs the IT landscape continues to evolve towards cloud services\, social media\, big data\, and regulations like GDPR\, Dr. Rizwan aids organizations in aligning with risk management practices and improving their ICT systems. His audits focus on maintaining the confidentiality\, integrity\, and availability of information assets\, using methodologies like ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 to make complex information accessible and actionable. \nDr. Rizwan’s extensive qualifications\, experience\, and skills make him a valuable asset in the field of cybersecurity and compliance. His contributions to standards development\, leadership in the Cloud Security Alliance\, and expertise in cybersecurity audits have positioned him as a trusted advisor and leader in the industry. \n \n\nDeanne Myers\, Manager Regulatory Practice\, Department of Internal Affairs (NZ)\n\nDeanne Myers is the Manager Regulatory Practice at the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Authority.\nShe manages a team of regulators who are responsible for establishing\, administering and maintaining the accreditation regime for digital identity service providers and digital identity services\, monitoring compliance with the requirements\, dealing with complaints and investigating breaches.\nDeanne has been with the TFA\, part of the Department of Internal Affairs\, since July last year.
