Over the past 12 months, PaymentsNZ’s Payments Direction team has been working with industry representatives to identify new and existing areas the programme should prioritise and focus on.

The result of this review is a Payments Modernisation Plan (PMP) discussion document, which looks at global payments trends and sets out a future view of our payments ecosystem in 2030. The plan identifies the capabilities required to modernise New Zealand’s payments ecosystem and deliver that future view. Ultimately, we want to meet the changing needs of Kiwis now and into the future so they can pay who they want, when they want and how they want.

We are now seeking input and feedback on the discussion document from interested parties in the wider ecosystem who want to help shape the future of payments in New Zealand. To facilitate this, we will be running online roadshows where you’ll be able to learn more about the PMP.
