Steven Graham
- NEC General Manager Biometrics - DINZ Executive Council
Steven Graham has an extensive background in biometrics and technology, with a career spanning Japan, the USA, and New Zealand. Steven’s professional journey includes senior executive roles at Microsoft, KPMG and Fronde as well as leading product development at Alpine Electronics in Japan. StevenF is a member of the Executive Council for Digital Identity New Zealand and chairs the Special Interest Group for Biometrics where he continues to influence the evolution of biometric technologies and their applications in digital identity and security. He works for NEC New Zealand.
Dr. Vica Papp
- MBIE Principal Data Scientist - DINZ Executive Council Member
Dr Vica Papp is a dual forensic-biometric identification specialist who has served as an independent forensic expert Since 2009. Vica works as a Principal Data Scientist at MBIE testing, optimising, and consulting on high-throughput biographic entity resolution and biometric identification solutions in the face and fingerprint domains. They are the elected President of the NZ Forensic Science Society, and elected Vice President of DINZ. When not working, they roam the South Island high country or dance Argentine tango.
Campbell Featherstone is a Partner in Dentons’ Wellington office and is a commercial, technology and privacy lawyer. He provides advice on procurement, privacy and data protection, IT agreements (including SaaS, agile and waterfall software development, and traditional licensing), IP licensing and consumer and marketing law compliance. He has advised numerous clients on compliance with privacy and data protection law, including the implications of the introduction of the European General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) for clients based both within and outside the EU, and the implications of New Zealand privacy law reforms. Campbell takes an active interest in the development of privacy and consumer law in New Zealand and the intersection of privacy law and technology. He was the co-author of the firm's submissions on the Privacy Bill (and presented those submissions to the Justice Committee on the firm's behalf), and was also lead author of the firm’s submissions to the OPC on the Biometric Processing Privacy Code.
Ross Hughson has worked with Technology for over 40 years, initially with IBM, then in the banking and Insurance industry, and finally as the CIO for Inland Revenue. Ross now runs his own business (Personal Information Management Ltd) which has a primary focus on using smart technology to streamline the closure of deceased estates. With regards to Biometrics, Ross oversaw the implementation of the Inland Revenue Speak2IR biometric voice recognition system; was a pioneer in the use of facial recognition in identity verification as part of AML/CFT compliance; and more recently is representing Australian Video Analytics company Vix Vizion in New Zealand and working with Retailers and other organisations to drive improved health and safety outcomes for staff and customers. Ross is a member of the DINZ Special Interest Group for Biometrics.
Glen is a Senior Solution Architect in the field of Biometrics at NEC New Zealand, he has been with the NEC group since 1986 across various roles including Software Development, Pre-sales, a Biometrics Specialist at NEC Australia, and Head of Research & Development for NEC NZ. Glen has been involved in client projects for government departments in New Zealand and Australia – specialising in the use of facial recognition. His special interest is the use of AI with Biometrics for the New Zealand and Australian markets.
